Lorraine Moreau

Lorraine Irene Brown Moreau, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 17, 2018, in Quakertown, PA. A service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday April 22 at 2:00 PM, at the Florence Memorial Gardens in Florence, SC. and a second service will be held at Florida Baptist Church, Drury, MA, 01343, on Sunday, May 20 at 4 PM. Lorraine was born August 28, 1931, in Drury, Massachusetts, the first daughter of the late Harold Ellsworth. and Sarah Gifford Brown. Lorraine had four brothers, Harold Brown (deceased), Edward Brown, of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, and Stanley (Maralyn) and Dwight (Renate) Brown, of Drury Massachusetts. She has two sisters, Elizabeth Long, of Montague, Massachusetts, and Doris Lewis of Drury, Massachusetts For grades 1-8 Lorraine attended a one room school house. She graduated with honors from Drury High School in 1949. In 1951, Lorraine married her high school sweetheart, Leo Arthur Moreau, Jr., and they were very happily married for 65 years, until Leo's death in 2016. Lorraine lovingly supported and accompanied Leo during his professional career which began in Drury, MA, and then Amherst, MA, Lakeville, MA, Thomaston, CT, Bennington, VT, Florence, SC, Avon, CT, North Myrtle Beach, SC, and finally Conway, SC. Lorraine devoted much of her energy and talents to raising four children who were born within four years, Robert (Patricia) Moreau, of Quakertown, Pennsylvania, Michael (Diane) Moreau, of Florence, SC, Karen Moreau, and Denise (Danny) Sherrill, of Hendersonville, NC, and nurturing seven grandchildren Christopher, David, Elisabeth, Lorraine, Sarah Beth, Jeffrey, and Andrew, and four great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Evan, Lilyana, and Jillian. Lorraine was also a very dedicated Christian lady, who served at several churches including Trinity United Methodist Church in Conway, SC, for the last fourteen years. For many years she and Leo enjoyed square dancing and bowling. Lorraine was renowned for her outstanding cooking and needlework skills. She had a magic cookie jar that was always full of warm chocolate chip cookies and she lovingly mailed cookie care packages to her children and grandchildren and others during their college years. She also did volunteer work including styling hair at a nursing home in Florence, SC for many years and serving as a volunteer for more than 25 years at Grand Strand Hospital, in Myrtle Beach, SC. Her loving neighbors, Doug and Janet Layman, of Conway, SC, were a blessing to Lorraine in her last years. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lorraine's memory may be sent to the Henderson County 4-H Enhancement Fund, 100 Jackson Park Road, Hendersonville, NC 28792, to provide scholarships for underprivileged children to attend 4-H Camp.
