Arla E. Slifer, 85, of Quakertown, died at her home Sun., July 30, 2017. She was the loving wife of John Slifer, Sr. Born in Bingen, she was the only child of Joseph H. and Mary A. (Fluck) Landis. Arla was a nursing school graduate, and worked for many years as a Licensed Practical Nurse for what is now Phoebe Richland Nursing Center in Richlandtown. Surviving with her husband are three sons: Robert Fry, Jr., companion Denise Shive, of Quakertown; Donald Fry, wife Karen, of Pennsburg and John Slifer, Jr., wife Wendy, of Hatfield; six grandchildren: Gideon, Sarah, Arielle, Rachel, Brett and Alayna; and a great-granddaughter, Gracelyn. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Sat., Aug. 5 in Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service, Ltd., 135 W. Pumping Station Rd., Quakertown, with a viewing beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Coopersburg.
