Elaine Deegan

December 23, 1937 — December 29, 2020

Elaine G. Deegan passed away Tuesday, December 29, just days after her 83rd birthday. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (nee Wojcik) Warchol. She spent a happy childhood on Chatham Street in the Port Richmond section of the city, surrounded by her four grandparents and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Elaine was fiercely proud of her Polish born grandparents and often shared stories of the sacrifices they made in coming to America and acclimating to their new country. She was a 1955 graduate of Little Flower High School. She worked as a secretary at the Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot, earning a superior performance award in 1959. She married Robert Deegan in 1960 at St. Adalbert's Church; they were married for fifty years at the time of his passing in 2011. Elaine and Bob raised their two children in Riverton, N.J., where she also worked many years for DelVal Ink and Color. In 1997, they down-sized to their vacation home in the Villas and she worked at the Winterwood Gift Shoppe in Cape May. In retirement, they relocated to Quakertown. At the time of her passing, she was a resident of Elm Terrace Gardens in Lansdale. Elaine liked to go fast and feel the wind in her hair. She enjoyed driving the back roads to the shore with the top down on her red convertible and her dog Thundar riding shotgun. She celebrated one birthday with a glider flight, and during a trip to Alaska took a helicopter ride onto a glacier where she raced a dog sled team. But most of all, she loved her family. She was happiest hosting extended family meals; with a mix of relations from both the Deegan and Warchol sides. Christmas night always ended at Elaine and Bob's - good food, good drink, and good company. Elaine is survived by her sister Dolores Shaw; daughter Linda, son-in-law Tom O'Connor, and daughter-in-law Diane Deegan-Slotke. She is also survived by three granddaughters; Hannah, Sarah, and Casey, and one great granddaughter Cecilia. She was preceded in death by her son Scott and grandson Bobby.
