Phyllis V. Ackerman, 90, formerly of Quakertown & Macungie passed away Saturday, June 16th, in Brookdale Assisted Living in Harrisburg, PA. Born on Nov. 20, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Harvey K. and Cora (Ahlum) Horne of Richlandtown, PA. She was the loving wife of Ray Ackerman for 64 years prior to his passing in 2012. She graduated from Quakertown High School in 1945. Phyllis loved music and played in the high school band and sang in the women's chorus. She also played in a community band after high school. She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Richlandtown, singing in the choir and serving on the church's Worship and Music Committee. She shared her musical talents as church organist for more than 30 years. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Quakertown Chapter. She is survived by her two children, Sharon, wife of Michael Krebs, Sr. of Macungie; a son Scott Ackerman and his wife, LaVonne, of Middletown; six grandchildren, Kirstin Crouthamel (Todd), Stacie Ackerman-Hopper, Erika Schaeffer (Marc), Scott Ackerman, Jayme Ackerman, and Daniel Ackerman; and one great grandchild, Alexandre Pryor, and her brother, Harvey Horne of Florida. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Mary, Dorothy, Kathryn, Becky and Arlene. Services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, June 22 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 4 Main Street, Richlandtown, PA. A calling hour from 10-11:00 am will precede the service in the church. Interment in Richlandtown Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to St. John's Lutheran Church, P.O.
