Betty J. Hartman, 93, of Quakertown, PA, passed away peacefully at home on November 14th, 2025. Born in Quakertown, she was the daughter of the late William Trautman and Katie (Rohr) Trautman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey H. Hartman Jr., a proud Korean War Veteran, with whom she shared 64 years of devoted marriage.
Betty was a graduate of Quakertown High School, Class of 1950, where she wasn’t just involved — she was a leader. She held roles as secretary, treasurer, vice president, or president in most of the clubs she joined, including, but not limited to, commercial club, knitting and needlework, foreign correspondence, Tri-Hi-Yi, athletic, and plastics clubs, among other class committees. She also served as her class Vice President for 2 years. As a talented athlete, she excelled in field hockey, cheerleading, basketball, and baseball. Her spirit, dedication, and involvement earned her the honor of being crowned Homecoming Queen her senior year.
After high school, Betty worked as a secretary at Quakertown High School and later for the Moyer Company. Once she began raising her two sons, she stopped working to dedicate herself to her family. She remained active with her church, volunteering to deliver flowers or wherever else help was needed.
Betty treasured her close friends and family, and was happiest when surrounded by those she loved, holding a special place in her heart for her two granddaughters. Betty and Harvey selflessly devoted around a third of their lives to help raise them, a role they cherished with pride and love.
Betty will be dearly missed by her son, Thomas Hartman; her granddaughters, Katie and Hannah (Brett); her great-granddaughter, Nina; her nephew, Rick Hartenstine; and her extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, John C. Hartman, and her sister, Shirley (Trautman) Long, wife of Robert Long.
Family and friends are invited to visit with Betty’s loved ones on Monday, November 24th, 2025, from 10:00–11:00 AM at Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service, Ltd., 135 W. Pumping Station Road, Quakertown, PA 18951. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM, with interment at Quakertown Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty’s memory to First United Church of Christ, 151 S. 4th St., Quakertown, PA 18951.
