Reverend Cheryl Andrea Stoneback died peacefully on December 25, 2023 at Grand View Hospital in Sellersville. She was 78 years young. Born March 7, 1945 in Quakertown, she was the daughter of the late Harold E and Arlene (Fluck) Stoneback. She was the loving wife to the late Robert Snyder. Cheryl is survived by her nephews Barry (Ashley), Jason (Bayle), Nathan (Tasha), Christopher (Paige), Ian (Valerie), and nieces Annie (Jim) and Margaret (Kyle). In addition Cheryl is survived by her great-nieces and nephews: Liam, Olivia, Everly, Charlie Marie, Reed, Parker, Ford, Brayden, Noah, Hunter, Remington and Chase, as well as her cat, Ozzy. She was predeceased by her brothers Brian, Bruce and Barry, as well as her sister Rosanne and her great-nephew Nash.
A 1963 graduate of Quakertown High School, Cheryl was recognized as a scholar and an all-around athlete. Known as "The Stone" Cheryl continued her education at Ursinus College and graduated in 1967 as a member of the Kappa Delta Kappa sorority, with a degree in Psychology. From there, she also studied at Temple University earning her Master's in Social Administration in 1982.
She held a career as the Deputy Director for Long Term Care with the Bucks County Agency on Aging. After retiring from the Agency she attended Moravian Theological Seminary. Upon graduating Magna Cum Laude and Valedictorian in 2004, Cheryl began a second career as a pastor at Frieden's United Church of Christ in Sumneytown and continued in her passion for Social Work.
Cheryl had many passions in life. She was a part of the church choir, handbell choir, festival choirs and would spend her time with the children during vacation bible school. She also found a great sense of joy in all of her nieces, nephews and their children. She loved the ocean, the beach, and everything about living the "Salt Life". Her love of fishing was like no other. Whether she was riding the waves by charter boat off the New Jersey beaches or sitting on a dock in Maine, you would always find Cheryl with a fishing pole in her hand, or at the very least, her car.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at First United Church of Christ, 151 South 4th Street, Quakertown at 4:00pm with a church service to follow.
