Donald L. Cope

Donald L. Cope, age 88, of Danielsville, Pennsylvania, passed away on October 15, 2026, at St. Luke's Hospital in Lehighton, PA. Born in Quakertown, PA, on August 19th, 1938 he was the son of the late Alfred "Pat" Cope and the late Anna Hochmiller Cope.

Don worked as a truck driver at Chemical Leaman Tank Line for 25 years, and belonged to Teamsters Union Local No. 773. During his time driving, he won the Safe Drivers award for 18 years. Additionally, in 1991 he won that 500,000-mile safe driver award.

Don’s greatest passion in life was cars – building them, driving them, talking about them, and appreciating them. His passion inspired him to be part of several car clubs including Mid-American Willys Club, Inliners International, Goodguys Rod & Custom Association, Bucks Street Rod Association (BSRA), Old Farts Timing Association (O.F.T.A.), and many more.

Mr. Cope's love of racing earned him numerous trophies at Vargo Dragway, where he spent many memorable hours doing what he loved most. He raced his own cars and was always happy to take someone else’s car down the track, too. When he wasn’t at the dragway, Don enjoyed cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles, watching Dale Earnhardt race, or spending time in his garage building hot rods from scratch.

Don is survived by his five children, Tammy Cope, Michael Cope, Deana Cope, Richard Cope, and Kelly Cope; his grandchildren, Eric, Anthony, Dave, Jonas, Brandon, Natalia, and Adrian; and one great granddaughter, Madilyn "Maddy."
