Listen to Obituary

Douglas “Doug” Alan Barkholz, 54, of Quakertown, PA, died on August 28th, 2026, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Tuan Quang Nguyen in Vietnam, Doug was the son of the late Albert D. Barkholz and Mae (Lesniewski) Barkholz.

Doug attended Upper Bucks Christian School and graduated in 1990. After high school, he furthered his education by attending Temple University where he studied engineering and earned a Bachelor’s degree. He began working at Motorola as an Electrical Engineer and enjoyed it so much he remained there for 30 years.

His passion for life extended well beyond his professional endeavors. In his free time, Doug enjoyed soccer, volleyball, golf, bowling, and definitely pickleball. He also enjoyed competing in every backyard game, including cornhole and washers. When he wasn’t playing games, he was traveling and camping in his motorhome with his wife, Beverly.

Doug was a coach at Quakertown Soccer Club for 16 years and Hatboro Horsham High School for 2 years where his calmness and leadership made a tremendous impact on his community and his players. Besides coaching at QSC, Doug spent many years on the executive board and as a long-standing member of the facilities group.

He was happiest when he could do or make anything with his hands including cornhole boards. Doug would always be willing to help someone who needed something fixed. He would show up at their home with the right tools for the job and do whatever was needed.

He always had a special place for music. He could pick up almost any instrument and learn it, but he was partial to the piano. Whether playing it in the middle of the night to put his sister, Melody, to sleep, or learning and playing every Disney song for his children.

Doug spent most of his time golfing with friends or planning his next golf trip. Doug was the type of person that anyone who met him would immediately say what a good guy he was. Above all else, he loved his family deeply and cherished the time spent with them.

Doug will be dearly missed by his wife of 26 years, Beverly (Dunstan) Barkholz; his children, Samantha and Nathan; his mother, Mae; his birth mother, Suon Nguyen; his siblings, Maree Medley, David Barkholz (Kim), Kiet Vo (Phuong), Meagan Moser (Jason), Melody Rorrer, Hoa Nguyen (Em), No Nguyen (Thuy), and Mai Thieu (Nghia); along with his extended family and friends.
