Listen to Obituary

Evelyn Grace Sturzebecker, 91, of Quakertown, passed away on January 21, 2026. She was born on July 4, 1934 to the late Ernest Swavely and Verna George Swavely on the family homestead, Steinsburg Road, Coopersburg, PA. Evelyn lived life with humility, devotion, sacrificial giving, hard work, faith in God, and trust in her savior and Lord Jesus Christ.

As an only child, Evelyn dwelt with her parents along with paternal aunts, uncles, and cousins while sustaining their family farm. She attended church where her grandfather was a Sunday school teacher and a one-room schoolhouse. Evelyn was fun to be around, friendly, always had a smile, funny, and loved children.

At age nine and in the fourth grade, Evelyn parents moved into their first home in Quakertown. Evelyn's pastimes became sewing, gardening, visiting relatives, riding bicycle, and playing piano. At age fifteen, Evelyn's first job was at Sines 5&10 and later in a local shirt factory.

After graduation from Quakertown High School and Allentown Business School, Evelyn met the late Richard Sturzebecker and they were married in 1954. Throughout their thirty year marriage they reared five children. Evelyn also supported Richard in his entrepreneurial television business attached to their home, as well as, worked full-time as a punch press operator until she retired when her first grandchild was born. Within several years of 1984, Evelyn endured the losses of her father, husband and son. Evelyn began attending Rocky Ridge church where she received loving support and grew in her relationship with Jesus Christ. She served behind the scenes meeting the needs of others and visiting the sick and homebound.

Evelyn had several falls affecting her physical limitations and eventually moved into Pennsburg Manor living her remaining years in faith.

Evelyn always welcomed the company of family and friends and loved flowers!
