Gary Lane Wenger

Gary Lane Wenger, 70, of Sellersville, PA, died on August 4, 2026, at Doylestown Hospital. Born in Sellersville, Gary was the son of the late Frank W. Wenger Jr. and the late Alma (Fosbenner) Wenger.

Gary will be dearly missed by his best friend Kevin Hoffman, his brother Jay Wenger and his wife Patricia, his niece Jodi Wenger and her wife Becky, his nephew Dan Wenger and his wife Jen and son Levi; along with his extended family members and friends.

Gary attended Pennridge High School and graduated in 1974

Earlier in his life he was on the high school gymnastics team as well as the marching band percussion section supporting his high school football team.

After High School, he furthered his education by attending Kutztown University where he studied elementary education

He was a volunteer at Pennridge Gallery of the Arts of which his father founded as well as the Holiday House Pool in Sellersville.

He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and The Sellersville Museum

He began working at United States Gauge Company as a precision machine operator and enjoyed it so much he remained there for 3 years. He also worked at Limeport Inn, Ferndale Inn, Plumsteadville Inn, The Washington House, McCoole’s/Red Lion Inn, and eventually retired from The Brick Tavern Inn in 2026.

His passion for life extended well beyond his professional endeavors. In his free time, Gary enjoyed gardening, tending to his indoor and outdoor flowering plants, and art. Amongst his favorites include calla lily’s, night blooming cereus, orchids, passion flowers, and the crown imperial. He was also quite the art aficionado. He was good friends with Robert Baum, whose father was renown Sellervsille artist Walter Baum. This gave Gary the opportunity to experience Walter’s work and extensive art collection first hand.

He was happiest when he was drinking his morning coffee and evening White Russian or J&B Scotch and water cocktail. He loved watching Penn State football and Villanova basketball games as well as supporting Philadelphia and Pittsburgh teams. He always had a special place in his heart for Pittsburgh. He loved the city and all of its sports teams (especially the Steelers). He was an avid follower of past and present queens of the British Monarchy. He enjoyed watching old movies especially one’s that starred Katharine Hepburn, Bette Davis, or Joan Crawford. He also watched a lot of old TV show reruns including The Golden Girls, The Nanny, I Love Lucy, The Andy Griffith Show, and All in the Family along with British sitcoms Keeping Up Appearances and Are You Being Served.

Jigsaw puzzles (art themed) were a popular activity with him and his best friend Kevin. As a team they would assemble, mount, frame, and hang the puzzles on their walls for future appreciation. They also organized annual march madness and fantasy football leagues for all of their friends to participate and enjoy.

Gary was a very kind soul and had a large following in the community. He loved many of his regular customers and looked forward to seeing them on a regular basis. They followed him throughout his career wherever he went. They were loyal to him and he was to them in return. He was quick witted and had a dry sense of humor that appealed to everyone he knew.

Above all else, he loved his friends and family deeply and cherished the time spent with them.

All are invited to view Gary on Tuesday, August 11th, 2026, from 10:30am ~ 12:00pm, located at Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service, Ltd. 135 W. Pumping Station Road, Quakertown, PA 18951. (215-536-3343) A funeral service will begin at 12:00pm followed by burial at Sellersville Cemetery. There will also be a reception/luncheon at the Brick Tavern Inn after the burial.

Flowers are welcome, or In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gary’s name to The Sellersville Fire Company or The American Heart Association
