Listen to Obituary

George Clinton Dungan, 91, of Limerick, PA, died on December 9th, 2025. Born in Sioux Falls, SD, George was the son of the late Earl Lucian Dungan and the late Theresa May Dungan (Reeves). George is predeceased by his wife, E. Maureen Dungan (Powers), together they spent 61 loving years of marriage together. George is also predeceased by his daughter, Kathleen Marie Dungan.

George attended Washington High School. After High School George enlisted to serve his country, serving in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, stationed in Miyakojima Japan, and subsequently in Omaha, Nebraska. It was in Omaha that George met his wife, Maureen.

George furthered his education at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, South Dakota. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, going on to earn the Professional Engineer credential.

He began working at the Omaha Public Power District in Omaha Nebraska, as an Electrical Engineer. He continued with OPPD, moving into Computer Systems Engineering, remaining with OPPD until 1968. He subsequently worked as a Systems Engineer with Leeds and Northrup, MACRO Corp, and EDS, retiring in 1997.

His passion for life extended well beyond his professional endeavors, in his free time, George was an avid artist, working across multiple media (oil, acrylic, water color, and pencil) with his art adorning the walls of friends and family to this day. He also curated an eclectic collection of music, ranging from Baroque Classical to New Orleans Jazz, from Bluegrass and Country to ballads by Aboriginal Australian artists.

Earlier in his life George was instilled with a strong work-ethic. He spent summers during high school working with his Uncle, traveling the northern Midwest and helping to set up and train staff at new Dairy Queen locations. He had jobs during school including working in meat-packing, and as a spelunker surveying caves.

In retirement George focused on perfecting his artistic ability and began practicing Tai Chi to improve his health.

George was an inherent problem-solver, and very generous with his time and ability, especially as it related to his children. He often provided support to his children, in the bleachers during sporting events, or in the audience during performances.

He always had a special place in his heart for his wife, Maureen. In the final years of her life, George served as a steadfast caregiver to support Maureen to the very end. The love between them was a constant and immutable reality for the whole family.

Above all else, he loved his family deeply and cherished the time spent with them.

George will be dearly missed his children, George Clinton Dungan II (Josie Piccolo Dungan), Kurt Joseph Dungan (Patricia Dungan), Kathleen Marie Dungan (deceased), Mark David Dungan (Diane), and Michael John Dungan (Marianne); his grandchildren, George Clinton Dungan III (Britta), Joseph Patrick Dungan (Krysten), Nicole Renee Dungan, Max David Dungan, Jack Michael Dungan, Sarah Elizabeth Gevers (Carlo), Shane David Dungan, Michaela Elizabeth Dungan, Katelyn McKenna Dungan, Sean Michael Dungan; and his great-grandchild, Cameron George Dungan.
