Irene H. Heiland
Irene H. Heiland, 100, of Coopersburg, passed away on May 1st, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Allentown, Irene was the daughter of the late Irwin Horne and the late Carrie (Frankenfield) Horne. Irene is predeceased by her husband, Robert E. Heiland, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage, and by her son, Thomas Heiland.
Irene graduated from High School in 1941. After High School, she continued her education by receiving her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Kutztown College in 1945. Irene began working as an art teacher in Montgomery County until her marriage in June 1947. Irene was a talented artist who enjoyed the business of making puppets and performing puppet shows. Words do little justice to encompass Irene’s loving, creative, and artistic spirit. She was a member at Unami Creek Questers, Springfield Township Historical Society, Lehigh Valley Red Hat Ladies, Girls Club of Bethlehem, and was a former member of Puppeteers of America. In her free time, Irene enjoyed needlework, sewing, reading, travelling, gardening, and cooking. Above all else, Irene loved her family deeply and cherished the time spent with them.
Irene will be dearly missed by her children, Philip I. Heiland (Wendy Martinette) of Coopersburg and Amy D. Heiland of Coopersburg; her granddaughters, Maya Heiland (R.J Gilligan) of Philadelphia, and Crystal Heiland (Anthony McKnight) of Columbia City, Oregon; and her great-granddaughters, Aeris McKnight, Evey McKnight, and Ramona Gilligan.
All are invited to visit with Irene’s family on Monday, May 13th, from 12:00PM ~ 1:00PM, located at Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service, Ltd. 135 W. Pumping Station Road, Quakertown, PA 18951. (215-536-3343) The memorial service will begin at 1:00PM. Burial will take place privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to No Nonsense Neutering or Animals in Distress.
