Jim Gregorec, 77, of Quakertown, passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospital on January 27, 2026. He was born on October 17, 1948, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, to the late Louis and Helen (Horvath) Gregorec.
Jim grew up in Allentown, where he learned the grocery business at a young age through his involvement with the Allentown Farmers Market. He graduated from Allentown Central Catholic High School and went on to attend Saint Joseph’s University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Food Marketing.
Following his education, Jim built a long and respected career in the grocery industry. For many years, he was an owner and operator of Shop Well Stores throughout the Lehigh Valley. He was also the owner of Family Food Market in Catasauqua and was actively involved with the Pennsylvania Grocers Association.
Above all else, Jim was devoted to his family. He was the loving husband of the late Bonita (Burns) Gregorec, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage until her passing in 2021. A dedicated father, Jim was deeply involved in his son Matthew’s life, serving as a Little League baseball coach, basketball coach, and a constant presence at all of Matthew’s activities.
Jim was also a lifelong and devoted fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, Sixers, and Flyers.
He is survived by his son, Matthew Gregorec; his sister, Ellen Potter (wife of Dennis); his loyal dog, Pepper, who brought him joy and companionship for over a decade; and many nieces, nephews, loving family members, and friends.
A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held at a later date.
