Janet Elaine Gross, of Sellersville, PA, went to be with her Lord on April 13th, 2025, at the Grandview Hospital following her recent return to her home.
Born in Sellersville, Janet was the daughter of the late O. Harold Gross of Madison, South Dakota, and Gladys (Wood) Gross of Promised Land, Pennsylvania.
Janet grew up in Lower Gwynedd, graduated from Ambler High School and attended West Chester Teachers College and Moody Bible Institute.
She later made Sellersville her home, attended Trinity Lutheran Church, of Perkasie, PA where she loved her community and her neighbors.
She excelled at a lifelong career with the Bell Telephone Company (later AT&T) where she traveled for training and supervising government accounts in this new and expanding area, during a time when it was rare to see a woman in such a position.
Janet was a founding member of the Towamencin Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and signed the original Chapter Charter on Nov 12, 1954. At the time Janet was a Junior and served as a State and National Page. She was a member of NSDAR for 71 years and was the longest living founding member. During her service, she served as Treasurer, Vice Regent, Chaplain, Regent, Librarian, Parliamentarian, Corresponding Secretary, Magazine Chair and as an officer from 1962 to 2014. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, keeping up with her cousins in the West and spending time with her sister and brother-in-law, Bernita and Bob Stanwood, traveling to their vacation cabin and farm in upstate Pennsylvania.
Janet was predeceased by her nephew, Nathan Gross Stanwood and her brother, Leonard Gross.
Janet will be dearly missed by her niece, Janet Elisabeth Stanwood, nephews Robert Stanwood and Jonathan Stanwood, as she was very close to them, providing love, guidance and hospitality.
She welcomed all to her home during the holidays and provided many priceless memories to her many friends and members in the local community.
All are invited to visit with Janet's family on Saturday, May 10th, from 1:00 ~ 2:00pm, located at Trinity Lutheran Church, 19 S. 5th St. Perkasie, PA 18944. A memorial service will begin at 2:00pm.
