Jeanette Cramer

1936 — January 1, 2021

Popular East Penn teacher passes peacefully at home.

Jeanette Cramer was 84, but if you were ever one of her first grade students you would know her true age is 16. Year after year if the kids asked they would get the magic answer, "I am 16". She was a favorite of many through her 35 years of teaching with a few students still keeping in touch! Students would come into her class knowing the alphabet and leave her class Reading. The ability to Read is one of the most important skills of life. Learning how to read was the gift Miss Cramer gave to her students. Other important skills like waiting your turn, saying please, saying thank you, and learning to appreciate other people always on the agenda as well. Jefferson Elementary room 102 often had a classroom pet but her favorite mascot was a Pug. Dog lover through and through she owned several Pugs over the years because they are so good with kids. Her "kids" each and every year meant everything to her. Miss Cramer focused on what she loved; teaching children to read, helping them unlock the mysteries of life through books, and to be excited about education. A graduate of Stroudsburg State Teachers College with a B.S. in Education at all crossroads for Miss Cramer was the importance of education and communicating correctly. Spelling, penmanship, manners, treating others the way you want to be treated, all corner stones of Miss Cramer's first grade class. A tough love type with a heart of gold.

Life long member of the Business Professional Women's organization known as BPW, Lehigh Valley and Reading Chapters https://bpwfoundation.org/. Another favorite pastime of hers was collecting Angels. Homemade Angels, specialty Angels, small, and tall there is room for all kinds in the Angel collection. During retirement she volunteered at the Emmaus Public Library continuing her legacy of helping children to read. Jeanette's niece and fellow animal lover, finished college to be a Certified Veterinarian Technician an occupation and person Jeanette was most proud of. Cheers to you beloved Sister, Aunt, Friend, and most of all Teacher. You certainly set a wonderful example for us all!

Jeanette is survived by a sister, niece, nephew, and extended family.
Predeceased by parents Weldon Cramer and Sara (Cramer) Zehner.
