She was the devoted wife of the late James Scanlan, with whom she shared a life built on loyalty, laughter, and family. Together they raised their beloved son, Sean Scanlan (Valerie), who continues to carry forward their legacy.

Joan was known for her remarkable vocabulary and quick intellect—whether in conversation, crosswords, or quiet reflection, words were her art. She had a lifelong passion for plants, tending to every leaf and stem with gentle devotion. Her home bloomed with life, a testament to her patience and nurturing spirit.

Animals were drawn to Joan’s kindness. From strays to family pets, every creature found a friend in her. Her love for animals was as natural and effortless as her care for family.

She will be remembered not only for the beauty she cultivated in the world around her, but for the warmth, humor, and wisdom she shared so generously. Joan’s legacy lives on in her son Sean and in every life she touched—human, furry, or green.

May she stay silly and rest in peace, reunited with James, and forever blooming in the hearts of those who loved her.
