John "Jack" McKean

Listen to Obituary

John “Jack” Franklin McKean, 82, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at his home in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, surrounded by his loving family.

Jack was born Sept. 26, 1943, in Philadelphia, to John and Elva (née Miller) McKean. Growing up in Frankford, he formed lifelong friendships and created memories that became stories he loved to tell.

On April 19, 1969, he married the love of his life, Diana (née McGuigan) McKean. Together, they shared 57 wonderful years of marriage and built a beautiful life in Hatboro, where they raised their three children.

Jack truly was a jack-of-all-trades. He spent his career in banking, rising to executive vice president before retiring. Along the way, he served as Hatboro borough treasurer, was an active member of the Horsham Rotary Club, and coached Hatboro Little League, becoming a familiar and respected presence in the community.

Retirement didn't slow him down. Instead, it gave him more time to put his handyman skills to good use, drive for Bucks County Transport (BCT), and embrace new adventures, whether riding his motorcycle or finding his next project.

Jack never met a stranger. A natural storyteller, he had a way of turning everyday moments into lasting memories. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and loyal friend. He will be remembered for his quick wit, generous heart, steady presence, and willingness to help others.

Nothing brought Jack more joy than his family. Of all the roles he held, his favorite was undoubtedly that of "Pop-Pop." Emma, Madeline, Charlotte, Benjamin, Cady, Keara, Nathan, James, and Noah filled his life with laughter, pride, and purpose. He delighted in being part of their world, cheering at games and performances, celebrating milestones, telling stories, and always arriving with a treat tucked away just for them.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Diana; his children, Amanda Dean, Seth McKean (Jocelyn), and Amelia Fox (Zachary); his nine grandchildren; his sister, Grace Sterner (Charles); his sister-in-law, Patricia Darragh; and many nieces and nephews, including Colleen Kneib (Tom), Madeline Darragh, Andrea Stumpo, David Stumpo (Jackie), Lisa Brennan (Gary), Julie Leonard, and Darah Sterner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Miriam Stumpo; his niece, Megan Mealey; his great-nephew, Jake Mealey; his great-niece, Chelsea Brennan; and his brothers-in-law, Bernard Darragh, Charles McGuigan, and Joseph McGuigan.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Jack's life from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the family home, 310 South Main Street, Quakertown, PA 18951. A time of sharing and remembrance will begin at 11:30 a.m.
