John Stanford Korty, 63, of Sellersville, PA, passed away on April 4th, 2026, in his home. Born in Trenton, NJ, John was the son of the late Richard L. Korty and Carol A. Korty Vogt (Kring).
John attended Richland High School and graduated in 1981.
While John dealt with disabilities that would have discouraged many people, he never let that keep him from doing many valuable things over the course of his life. One of the most important things he accomplished with the help of his mother was learning to read and write. He accomplished this in spite of the fact that experts told the family he never would. Not only did he learn these skills but he became an avid reader, enjoying books about history the most. He never used his disabilities as an excuse.
John was always willing to help out with whatever needed to be done. You would always see him doing the yardwork as soon as it needed to be done. If it snowed, he was out shoveling as soon as possible. One never had to worry that there wouldn't be a place to park when a snowstorm hit. John also was a great help to his mother as she started to age and couldn’t get around like she used to. In fact, because of John, she was able to live without nursing care for quite a while.
When John wasn’t helping out, he was happiest when he was reading and learning about history. Many people remember having long detailed conversations about history with John supplying most of the historical facts. John also loved to go outdoors and take long walks. Even if it was to just go to the store, post office or run some errands, he would use the opportunity to get in an extra walk.
Being a Christian, when he couldn’t get to church, he liked to sit and watch pastors such as Billy Graham and Joel Osteen or watch movies like the “Ten Commandments”.
He always had a special place in his heart for the family pets he had growing up. Our family was a family of cat lovers and John was no different with “Tigger” being his favorite.
He will be remembered for his kindness and sweet disposition by his family and all who met him and got to know him.
John will be dearly missed by his mom, Carol; his brother, Gary Korty; his sister, Janet Glowa, and her husband, Troy Glowa; his nieces, Rachel, Meghan, Sarah and Haddy; along with extended family members and friends.
All are invited to visit with John’s family on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026, from 9:30 ~ 11:30, located at Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service, Ltd. 135 W. Pumping Station Road, Quakertown, PA 18951. (215-536-3343) A memorial service will begin at 11:30.
