M. Jean Heacock passed away on June 7, 2025, two weeks after her 92nd birthday, at New Seasons at New Britain.
A lifelong resident of Fountainville, PA, she was the wife of the late Robert E. Heacock, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage.
Born on May 24, 1933, in Abington, PA, Jean was the daughter of the late Francis and Marion (Worthington) Hellerick, proprietors of Hellerick’s Store in Fountainville.
She is survived by her children: Bruce, of Revere, PA, Stephen (L. Brooks) of Fountainville, and Barbara, of Vero Beach, FL; her grandchildren, Megan (Tucker Drimal), of Fairfield, CT, and Theodore, of Fountainville; and her great-grandson, August Drimal.
Jean had a brief career as an administrative assistant in the Bucks County Courthouse, and then as a library assistant at Gayman Elementary School in Danboro, PA. Her focus, however, was managing the household on a busy working farm, with its unyielding demands and schedules. She was a practiced gardener, with a prolific vegetable garden and carefully nurtured and maintained flower and rose beds. She was an accomplished home cook, with her own particular emphasis on holiday celebrations, replete with her meticulously handcrafted gingerbread houses and famous homemade pies.
Jean was a devoted, lifelong member of Salem United Church of Christ in Doylestown, where she was an energetic volunteer organizer at the annual Strawberry Festival and many other events and fundraisers.
She was an ardent CB West and Penn State football fan, traveling to Rose Bowls and many home games in State College, PA. She loved traveling the U.S. and the world with Bob and their closest friends, including trips to Africa and Europe — as well as many returns to her happy place, Disney World. They enjoyed a circle of friends whose pinochle parties routinely lasted deep into the night. She was a fan of big-band music, Dixieland, country, and marching bands (halftime shows were just as entertaining for her as the football games themselves). But, by Jean’s own admission, her true joy was shopping for, and otherwise doting on, her beloved grandchildren.
Jean’s family will receive condolences on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Salem United Church of Christ, 186 E. Court Street, Doylestown, PA 18901, from 10 a.m. until her memorial service at 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
All arrangements are made by Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service, Ltd. 135 W. Pumping Station Road, Quakertown, PA 18951. (215-536-3343)
