Mark Allen Roy Sr.

Mark Allen Roy Sr., 67, of Quakertown, PA, died on June 21, 2025, in his home. Born in Grafton, WV, Mark was the son of the late Robert C. Roy Sr. and the late Jeanne (Crouser) Summers.

Mark attended Grafton High School and graduated in1977. He dedicated his life to serving his country and joined the United States Navy in 1977 where he proudly served until 1999 when he retired. Mark was an expert parachute rigger and pistol handler. After his military retirement he began working as a truck driver for many years with JB Hunt, Penske and Cress Gas, when he eventually fully retired in 2016.

His passion for life extended well beyond his professional endeavors, in his free time, Mark enjoyed working on and repairing small engines, hunting and fishing, serving as a boy scout leader, cutting grass for himself and his neighbors, and being a member of the local American Legion Post 242, where he volunteered much of his time and made many friends.

Earlier in his life, Mark demonstrated a love for all things outdoors, riding his blue motor bike around the farm, taking engines apart and putting them back together. He had a natural gift for drawing and drafting. He enjoyed helping his father work on small engine airplanes, which they would fly on their family-farm runway, occasionally under the alias “The Barnstormer”. He and his oldest brother also served in the Civil Air Patrol.

Mark had a special place in his heart for all things with an engine or motor and was happiest when in his “man shed”, tinkering and fixing things for himself and for others.

Above all else, Mark loved his family deeply and cherished the time he spent with them.

Mark will be dearly missed by his wife, Dorothy, together they shared 30 loving years of marriage; his children, Erica and Mark Jr. and stepchildren Jacklynn (Paul Rossi) and Alex (Stephanie Houk); his grandchildren, Noah, Brayden, PJ, Parker, Grace, Paxton, Porter, Joel, Mason, Aria, Aeden, Seamus and Cillian; his siblings, the late Starr (Roy) Bell, Eric Roy, Mike Roy, Kimberly (Martin) Roy, Holly (Summers) Hart, Lisa (Summers) Hymes and Robert Roy Jr., along with his extended family members and dear friends.

All are invited to visit Mark’s family on Thursday, July 10th, 2025, from 10:30 ~ 11:30AM, with services immediately following; located at Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service, Ltd. 135 W. Pumping Station Road, Quakertown, PA 18951. (215) 536-33430. Burial services will take place afterwards, at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mark’s name to the American Legion Post 242, Quakertown, PA.
