Mary Ellen (Schaffer) Maurer, age 74, of Quakertown, PA, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of the late Dennis W. Maurer who died in 2016 and with whom she shared 45 years of marriage. Born on May 5, 1951 in Quakertown, she was the daughter of the late Horace Schaffer Sr. and the late Ruth Erney Schaffer.
Mary loved spending time with her family, lunches with her friends, talking with everyone she met, socializing, and people watching on a bench (especially at Knoebel's). She enjoyed baking and making carrot cakes for everyone's birthdays, and boy did everyone enjoy them!! She found joy reading inspirational books and watching Hallmark movies (especially at Christmas time). One of her favorite quotes was LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH which is exactly what she did!
She is survived by one son, Michael W. Maurer and his wife, Diana; one daughter, Terri L. Pasternak and her husband, Steve; four grandchildren, Corey & Kaden Pasternak and Brandi & Holli Maurer; two brothers, Danny Schaffer and his wife, Debra and David Schaffer and his wife, Cindy; one sister, Judy Craner; her brother-in-laws, Dave Wieand and Jeff Maurer and his wife, Christine; and sister-in-laws, Ethel Schaffer, Annette Poczak, and Joyce Maurer; and MANY nieces and nephews. She was predeased by brothers, Donald and Horace Schaffer Jr; sister, Arlene Wieand; niece, Tiffany Wieand; brother-in-laws, Richard and Randall Maurer; and in-laws, Leonard and Anna Maurer.
You are invited to visit with Mary's family and friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, April 30, 2026, and 10:00-11:00 AM on Friday, May 1, 2026 at Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service (215-536-3343) 135 W. Pumping Station Rd. Quakertown, PA 18951. Her life celebration funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Friday, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Zion Hill Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
