Richard Albert Curtiss

Richard “Dick” Albert Curtiss, 86, of Oakville, CT, died on September 28th, 2026. Born in Waterbury, CT, Dick was the son of late Albert Curtiss and the late Ethel (Nelson) Curtiss.

He attended Seymour High School and graduated in the Class of 1958. After High School, he furthered his education by attending UCONN School of Agriculture and received an associate’s degree. Dick began working at UPS in Stratford, CT and enjoyed it so much he remained there for 42 years. He eventually retired from UPS in 2002 as a tractor trailer driver.

His passion for life extended well beyond his professional endeavors, in his free time, Dick enjoyed volunteering at the Oxford Center Fire Company; where he was treasurer for 25 years. He was a member at Great Hill Methodist Church. Above all else, he loved his family deeply and cherished the time spent with them.

Dick will be deeply missed by his wife, Donna, together they shared 49 loving years of marriage; his son, Rychard Curtiss (Kathy), his daughter, Wendy Johns (Jeff), his daughter, Bonnie Schoening (Brian); his grandson, Elijah Schoening; his sister, Lois Hummel (Paul); along with extended family members and friends.
