Ronald John Vickery

Ronald "RV" Vickery, affectionately known as "Poppy," of Quakertown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 67, surrounded by the family he loved so deeply. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was defined by family, friendship, hard work, and a whole lot of laughter.

Ron grew up in Philadelphia, where he attended George Washington High School. It was soon after, he met the love of his life and soulmate, Connie, with whom he would share 46 wonderful years.

Above all else, Ron was a family man. He was a loving and devoted husband and father who worked hard to provide for the people he loved and made sure they knew they could always count on him. He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed simply being together; sharing a meal, telling stories, laughing and playing games.

He took tremendous pride in his children and rarely missed an opportunity to be part of their lives. For countless years, he could be found on the sidelines and fields, coaching their teams, cheering them on, and watching them grow. As the years passed, that same pride and devotion carried into being "Poppy." Being a grandfather and great-grandfather brought him immeasurable happiness, and the family he helped build became one of the greatest accomplishments of his life.

Ron also knew how to have a good time. Summers fishing in Canada became a tradition and created memories that will be told for generations. Weekends in Jim Thorpe meant friends, family, stories, and plenty of laughter. Wherever Ron was, there was rarely a shortage of personality. His laugh was contagious, his presence was unmistakable, and he had a spirited way of living that drew people together and made ordinary moments memorable.

That same loyalty and dedication could be seen throughout his working life. For an incredible 46 years, Ron worked at Super Pac, Inc. in Southampton, Pennsylvania. Nearly five decades with the same company spoke to the kind of man he was; hardworking, dependable, loyal, and committed to the people and responsibilities that were part of his life.

Sixty-seven years was far too short for everyone who loved him, but Ron made those years count. He loved deeply. He laughed often. He made lifelong friendships, raised a family he was immensely proud of, and created traditions and memories that will continue long after his passing.

He is survived by his loving wife, Connie (Phillipeck) Vickery; his children, Megan (Vickery) Peterson, (with son-in-law Brett), and Steven Vickery (with daughter-in-law, Lori); his grandchildren Kristin, Noah, and McKenna, Lars, Sanna; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Connor, Beckham, and Crew.

There will be an empty seat at family gatherings, one less voice telling a story, and a laugh that everyone will wish they could hear just one more time. But Ron leaves behind something much larger than his absence. He leaves behind a family shaped by his love, friendships built over a lifetime, fishing stories that will undoubtedly get better with every retelling, and countless memories of a man who truly knew how to live.

His family finds comfort in knowing that when his journey came to an end, Ron was where he belonged; at home, surrounded by the people he loved most and greeted by those who passed before him. Ron has found peace.

All are invited on Thursday, September 17, to St. Isidore Catholic Church, 2545 W. Pumping Station Rd., Quakertown, PA 18951 for a visitation from 10:00-10:55am, and a memorial mass beginning at 11:00am.
