Listen to Obituary

Stephen Lewis Luther, 67, of Center Valley, PA, died on August 4th, 2026, at St. Luke's Hospice House after a short stay. Born in Fountain Hill, Stephen was the son of the late Stephen Luther and Mary (Kohut) Luther.

He was married to Merrie (Cutter) Luther.

Stephen attended Southern Lehigh High School and graduated in 1979.

After high school, he got a job working with the grounds crew of Saucon Valley Country Club, near where his family lived and where he’d grown up. He enjoyed the outdoor work and took pride in how well-kept the golf course looked, especially when there were large tournaments. He was employed by the grounds crew for 42 years until he retired.

He had a passion for the outdoors, especially woods and creeks, namely the Saucon Creek. Growing up he also enjoyed walking and bicycle riding. He loved animals, mainly dogs, cats, and horses. He owned a horse for a time, and that led him to meet his future wife Merrie. Later he took glider flying lessons. He loved country music and loved his comfortable clothes. He enjoyed conversing about the history of Friedensville and Upper Saucon Township, occasionally driving on Old Bethlehem Pike or other back roads and knowing in his heart where the old mine holes were even when they were long closed off from view.

He loved his family, his extended family and his wife’s family. He liked seeing uncles, aunts and cousins especially at the many family get-togethers in earlier days.

Stephen will be dearly missed by his wife, Merrie; together they shared 35 loving years of marriage; his older sister Linda Floro and her husband, Doug. In addition to his parents, Stephen was predeceased by his younger sister Lynn (Luther) DeBruin.
